The anticipation has come to an end. Following a year of intense speculation, Apple has officially unveiled its latest iPhone 15 series, consisting of the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max, along with the introduction of the new Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2.
As anticipated, Apple has done away with the lightning port across all four iPhone models and introduced the Dynamic Island feature to each one. On the Pro-line of smartphones, they replaced the mute button with an action button and adorned them with a brushed titanium design. Of course, there are also the customary camera upgrades.
While the announcements held few surprises, the enhanced ultra-wideband technology piqued interest. Apple showcased a feature allowing users to receive precise turn-by-turn directions directly to their friends. Additionally, the sleek titanium colors in natural, white, black, and blue were a notable highlight.
Furthermore, the standard iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus models have become even more appealing, incorporating a range of features from last year’s Pro models. Notably, there’s now a 48MP primary camera, a significant increase from the previous 12MP, and users have the option to enable or disable Portrait Mode even after taking a picture.
When can you place pre-orders for the Apple iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro?
Pre-orders for the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max will commence at 1 pm BST on Friday, September 15, 2023, through the Apple Store. Subsequently, shipping will commence on Friday, September 22, 2023.
If you decide to trade in your current iPhone at Apple, you could receive up to £715 in Apple credit that can be applied towards your new iPhone 15 purchase. Alternatively, if you prefer to explore deals from phone carriers, these deals are expected to roll out on September 15. We anticipate that carrier deals for the iPhone 15 will be more attractive this year, especially considering the lower price tags in the UK.
Specific details about the iPhone 15 carrier deals won’t be available until later in the week, typically around pre-order day, which falls on September 15. To get an idea of what to expect, it’s worth examining the carrier deals offered for the iPhone 14 last year.
For instance, one of the standout deals we observed for the iPhone 14 Pro Max last year was from Sky Mobile. They offered the handset for £40 per month on a 36-month contract with no upfront cost. Customers could add on a data plan, with a 2GB plan costing £6. In total, this plan amounted to £46 over 36 months.
However, deals for the iPhone 14 Pro were somewhat underwhelming. Three, for example, offered a 24-month contract deal at £72 per month for the handset, requiring an upfront payment of £70. It did come with unlimited data, but we’re hoping for more appealing options this year.
If you were in the market for an iPhone 14 deal, Mobiles.co.uk had an enticing 24-month contract available. There was an upfront cost of £99, but following that, the monthly charge was only £39.99, and you received 100GB of data. It was a compelling offer, and it’s likely to be even more attractive for the iPhone 15, given its lower price.
At the initial launch of the iPhone 14 Plus, contract deals were quite scarce. However, Mobile Phones Direct did have an offer for the larger iPhone, priced at £54 per month with a £9 upfront fee. This package included 100GB of data, which was a reasonably good deal. With the iPhone 15 Plus being a new configuration introduced by Apple last year, we expect to see more contract deals for it at launch.
