Apple’s Fall Event Set for September 12 at Steve Jobs Theater in Cupertino, California, 10 a.m. Local Time
At the event named ‘Wonderlust,’ Apple is anticipated to unveil its iPhone 15 lineup, consisting of the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max.
Additionally, there is a possibility that Apple may seize the opportunity to introduce new Apple Watch iterations, such as the Apple Watch Series 9 and an enhanced Apple Watch Ultra
Earlier this month, Ming-Chi Kuo, a respected Apple industry analyst, revealed that certain iPhone 15 models would incorporate stacked sensors. Interestingly, the iPhone 15 Pro models are not expected to feature stacked sensors due to production constraints, with Kuo suggesting that the iPhone 16 Pro models will introduce these new sensors.
In contrast, MacRumors reports that the iPhone 15 Pro Max is poised to receive a periscope zoom lens, potentially providing 5x or 6x optical zoom, a significant enhancement from the current 3x zoom. If accurate, this would represent a notable camera upgrade for the larger iPhone 15 Pro model, potentially leaving the standard iPhone 15 Pro with limited camera improvements.
Mark Gurman of Bloomberg also notes that some key features introduced in the iPhone 14 Pro models will find their way into the standard iPhone 15 lineup this year. These features include the A16 chip, the Dynamic Island interface design, and a 48-megapixel primary rear camera.
Gurman also predicts that the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max models will feature a redesigned titanium frame, moving away from the stainless steel frame. Additionally, he expects narrower bezels for the display and the use of a 3-nanometer A17 processor to power these phones.
A potentially significant departure in design and functionality is the rumored introduction of a new customizable side button, replacing the mute switch that has been a staple feature on iPhone models since the original iPhone’s debut in 2007.
In alignment with MacRumors’ expectations, Bloomberg also anticipates the iPhone 15 Pro Max to offer an enhanced optical zoom compared to last year’s iPhone 14 Pro models.
Furthermore, all four iPhone 15 models are expected to adopt USB-C charging to comply with the European Union’s new regulations, marking a departure from the Lightning port introduced by Apple in 2012.
While numerous reliable sources have provided these rumors, it remains uncertain what lies ahead until Apple officially confirms them. PetaPixel will cover Apple’s upcoming event to provide all the details as soon as they become available
