Manly Beach in Sydney was selected from approximately 8 million TripAdvisor reviews, while Mediterranean beaches secured the top three spots
Tripadvisor has ranked Sydney’s Manly Beach as the seventh best beach globally, making it the sole Australian beach in the top 25.
Zali Steggall, the MP for Warringah, which encompasses Manly, remarked that the announcement simply reaffirmed “the world knows what we’ve known all along.”
Manly Beach was praised for its accessibility, being friendly for wheelchairs and strollers, as well as its abundance of gift shops, food, and drink options.
Reviewers on Tripadvisor lauded Manly for its cleanliness, with one visitor noting the water was “so clean you can nearly drink it.” Others appreciated the beach’s lifeguards, the numerous playgrounds and parks within walking distance, and the ferry service from Circular Quay.
One reviewer described Manly’s golden, soft sand as a “luxury” compared to the “relative mediocrity” of European beaches.
However, European beaches dominated the list, with the top three spots going to Praia de Falesia (Portugal), Spiaggia dei Conigli (Italy), and La Concha (Spain).
Tripadvisor’s Traveller’s Choice list highlights 25 beaches selected from approximately 8 million reviews, focusing on those that received a high volume of exceptional reviews over a 12-month period.
The list includes both widely recognized landmarks and lesser-known gems from around the world.
Broome’s Cable Beach secured the third spot on last year’s Tripadvisor list, marking Australia’s highest ranking.
Earlier this month, Tourism Australia named Victoria’s Squeaky Beach the country’s best, while Manly Beach and all Sydney beaches failed to make the top 10.
